Terms of Service
Last updated: 17th June 2026
Welcome to Lettout. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Lettout's operator ("Lettout", "we", "us", or "our") governing your use of lettout.com and the Lettout app (together, the "Service"). Lettout is currently operated by Ishan, founder of Lettout (incorporation of Lettout's operating entity, Vesper Labs OPC Private Limited, is in progress; these Terms will be updated to reflect the company once registration is complete). By joining the waitlist or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
We've tried to write these in plain language. If anything is unclear, email hello@lettout.com.
What Lettout is
Lettout is an anonymous space where people can post short messages ("vents"), react to others' vents, and — where the author allows it — offer supportive responses. It exists so people have somewhere to say what they can't say elsewhere.
Lettout is not a healthcare, medical, or crisis service. It is not therapy, counseling, or professional advice, and we are not therapists. Nothing on Lettout is a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis or may harm yourself or others, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis helpline immediately.
Who can use Lettout
You must be at least 18 years old to use Lettout. By using the Service, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
Your anonymous account
When you start using the app, we create an anonymous account for you with a randomly assigned pseudonym and avatar color. You don't provide a name or password. You are responsible for activity that happens through your session on your device. Because accounts are anonymous, we may be unable to recover or restore an account or its content if access is lost — please keep this in mind.
Subscriptions and payments
Access to the Lettout app requires a paid subscription. Pricing is shown in the app at the point of signup. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize the recurring charge described at checkout until you cancel.
- Billing: Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period unless cancelled.
- Cancellation: You can cancel anytime. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not retroactively refund the current period unless required by law.
- Refunds: Except where required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable.
- Price changes: We may change pricing in future. We'll give reasonable notice of changes that affect you, and changes won't apply to a billing period you've already paid for.
The rules: what you agree not to do
Lettout only works if people use it in good faith. You agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, that threatens or incites violence, or that constitutes harassment, hate speech, or targeted abuse of another person.
- Post sexual content involving minors, or any content that exploits or endangers a child — this results in immediate removal and may be reported to authorities.
- Share another person's private or identifying information.
- Use Lettout to spam, advertise, scam, or distribute malware.
- Attempt to de-anonymize, stalk, or track other users.
- Attempt to break, overload, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
- Impersonate Lettout staff or misuse the reporting/safety features.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion.
Content you post
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant Lettout a limited license to store and display your content within the Service so it can function (for example, showing your vent to others in the feed). This license ends when your content is deleted.
Vents auto-delete based on the schedule you choose. You can delete your content or your account at any time. Note that copies may persist briefly in backups or caches before being fully purged.
The AI safety check
When you post, the text is briefly checked by an automated system designed to detect signals of an immediate safety crisis, so we can offer supportive resources. This is described in detail in our Privacy Policy. By posting, you understand and agree that your content is processed for this purpose. This check is a supportive safety net, not a guarantee — it may miss things, and it does not make Lettout a monitoring or crisis-intervention service.
Responses and advice from other users
When you choose "gentle advice is ok," other anonymous users may reply. These responses come from members of the public, not from professionals or from Lettout. We don't verify, endorse, or take responsibility for advice users give each other. Use your own judgment, and never treat anything on Lettout as professional guidance.
Moderation and reporting
You can report vents or responses that break the rules. We review reports and may remove content or take action on accounts. We aim to be fair but can't promise a specific outcome or timeframe for every report.
Service availability
We work to keep Lettout running, but we provide the Service "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every location. We may modify, pause, or discontinue features.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lettout and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or for content posted by other users. Because Lettout is not a healthcare or crisis service, we are not responsible for decisions you or others make based on content found on the platform. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending your use
You can stop using Lettout and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these Terms or if we need to for legal, safety, or operational reasons.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Lettout grows. If we make significant changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept them.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Lettout is available to a global audience, and local mandatory consumer-protection laws that apply to you are not overridden by this clause.
