Terms of Use

You must be at least 18 years old, and you'll be asked to confirm this when you sign up. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll delete it. You need a working email address to sign in, and you're responsible for keeping access to it secure. One person, one account.

Lettout is a peer space where members share what they're carrying, anonymously, and support each other. It is not therapy, counselling, medical care or a crisis service. Members are not professionals, and nothing posted here is professional advice.

If you're in crisis

If you're going through something heavy right now or thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to your local emergency number or find a free helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. Lettout is a peer space and can't send emergency help, but you don't have to face this alone.

Lettout is a paid service. The exact price for your country, in your currency, is always shown before you pay.

• Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which sells the subscription to you as Merchant of Record. Its buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Taxes may be added or included depending on where you live.
• Before you start a trial, checkout shows the date it ends and the monthly price it becomes. Plans renew automatically. You can cancel anytime; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
• The first-year offer is shown once per account, from day 3 of your trial until the trial ends. Before you accept it, the offer screen shows today's price, the normal yearly price it renews at, and the date of that renewal. Accepting it replaces the monthly plan your trial would have become, so you're never charged for both. Cancelling and subscribing again doesn't bring the offer back. It has no countdown and won't come back later. After the first year, the plan renews at the normal yearly price unless you cancel. If we ever close Lettout, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused whole months of any yearly plan or first-year offer. If Lettout is sold or merged, your plan and these promises carry over to the new owner.
• We may change prices. Changes apply from your next renewal, and we'll tell you at least 30 days before.
• Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

You own what you write. By posting, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and process your content only to run Lettout, for example showing your vent to other members and running safety checks. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies kept briefly in backups or where the law requires us to keep them.

Other members can read your vents and, where you allow it, reply. Don't post anything that could identify you or anyone else.

Lettout only works if it stays safe. You must not post or share anything that:

• threatens, harasses, bullies or attacks another person;
• promotes hatred or violence against people based on religion, caste, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability or similar characteristics;
• encourages or instructs anyone to harm themselves;
• is sexually explicit, or sexualises or endangers children in any way;
• reveals someone's identity or private information (doxxing), or impersonates anyone;
• is spam, advertising, scams or fundraising;
• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
• is knowingly false or misleading and harmful;
• threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, public order or friendly relations with other countries, or is otherwise illegal in India or where you live; or
• contains malware, or tries to break, overload, scrape or get around the app's security, safety checks or limits.

You must not try to discover who another member is.

If you believe something on Lettout infringes your copyright, email grievance@lettout.com with the content's link, proof that you own the work, and your contact details. We'll remove it if the claim is valid and tell the member who posted it, who can reply to dispute the claim.

We use automated checks and human review to keep Lettout safe. Posts that show signs of crisis may be kept off the public feed; posts with threats or attacks may be blocked before they're published. Members can report and block others.

If you break these rules, we may remove your content, limit your account, or suspend or close it, depending on how serious it is. Where we can, we'll tell you why. We're not required to monitor everything posted, and we're not responsible for what members write.

If you see something that breaks these rules or the law, use the report button or email our Grievance Officer, Ishan Kharat, at grievance@lettout.com. We will acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days. Some complaints are handled faster. Posts that describe or show a real person nude or in a sexual act, impersonate a real person, or link to nude, sexual or altered images of someone, without their consent, are removed within 2 hours of a complaint. Orders from courts or authorised government agencies are followed within the time the law sets, which can be as short as 3 hours. If we find sexual content involving anyone under 18, we remove it and report it to the authorities as the law requires.

You can delete your account anytime in your profile; this deletes your vents, replies and reactions. We may close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we close your account for breaking the rules, you won't get a refund for unused time, except where the law requires one.

We work hard to keep Lettout available and safe, but we provide it "as is". We can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every harmful post will be caught.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything another member posts or does. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount paid for your Lettout subscription in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, or your rights under consumer laws that apply to you.

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Lettout after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Satara, Maharashtra have jurisdiction, but if you're a consumer living elsewhere, you may also have the right to bring a claim in your own country's courts.
